In Portuguese, as well as in foreign languages, there are names to designate the sounds made by the various species of animals. Remember that many species of animals make sounds as a communication resource with other animals of the same species. These sounds are mainly emitted in situations of reproduction, pup protection and territorial disputes. Many species also make sounds to scare off predators or attract prey. That is, sounds are of fundamental importance for the survival of these animal species.
